So, still trying to get a list of the possible overrides, i.e. the list of items that shows up under a particular overrides list for an object.
<symbol>.overridePoints() give you the individual override points for a symbol, but, for an override point that's a symbol override, i'm looking for that list of possible override options (as shows up in the dropdown).
this is particularly vexing for a library. If the symbols existed in the current document, i could at least programmatically find the symbol and reference it by ID (because I know what the options are, programatically). As it stands, grabbing the ID as it exists in the Library gives me an ID that the document itself doesn't understand, and when i set the value, i get "candy cane stripes" set in place of the symbol override.
The only time when I can properly set a particular symbol override from a Library (or get the proper symbol ID) is when i first manually select the override from the drop down list. From that point the ID is available, and symbol is findable via
The key may be somewhere around
MSOverrideViewController -- but how to get a better idea of how it generates that list of possible overrides?
